A new rumor suggests that NetherRealm will add a new Online Practice mode and “Warrior Shrine” to Mortal Kombat 1 in an upcoming update.

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, NetherRealm finally announced Khaos Reigns, the first story-based DLC expansion for Mortal Kombat 1. Picking up where the base game’s story left off, Khaos Reigns will see Titan Havok rally an army of evil multiverse warriors to spread death and anarchy to the main MK 1 universe.

This new plot line isn’t the only content being added to Mortal Kombat 1 in the upcoming Khaos Reigns expansion, as NetherRealm has also revealed that gender-flipped versions of Sektor and Cyrax are also being introduced alongside a revamped Noob Saibot as additional playable characters. Later on, a trio of new Mortal Kombat 1 guest fighters will join the mayhem in the form of the Ghostface killer of Scream fame, the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and the titular Conan the Barbarian.

The fan-favorite Animality finishers are also making a comeback, allowing players to transform their fighters into beasts to brutally kill their enemies.

It now appears that a pair of highly-requested features will be introduced to Mortal Kombat 1 around the same time as Khaos Reigns, according to a reliable leaker on Reddit.

In a recent comment made on the Mortal Kombat Leaks subreddit, the user responded to a request for an Online Practice mode and a previously hinted-at “Warrior Shrine” by claiming that both will be added to Mortal Kombat 1 around the time that Khaos Reigns launches later this month. These modes will reportedly be featured in a free update patch, so fans won’t have to buy the DLC to enjoy them.
