Lee “Yaharong” Chan-ju, a former professional LoL player, has been reportedly arrested in Hanoi, Vietnam for murder charges.

According to a report by The Jesport Hub, Yaharong was allegedly staying in a hotel in Hanoi with the victim on May 30. The girl refused to have sexual intercourse with Yaharong, which led to Lee strangling her to death.

Following that, the former pro player tried to commit suicide, before authorities arrested him as he was trying to jump off the hotel. While initially, Vietnamese reports mistakenly reported the criminal to be 33 or 44 years old, the Korean authorities later confirmed the murderer was 24 years old, proving that the ex-mid laner Yaharong.

A CAREER WITH A FEW UPS BUT MANY DOWNS

Yaharong started off his professional career back in 2016 when he joined the Seoul team in August 2016 in the KeG Championship.

His first professional experience in the LCK came one year later when he joined Jin Air Green Wings, a team where he stayed for more than 3 years.

Throughout his tenure on the team, however, Jin Air wasn’t able to bring the team strong results in the LCK, to the point where the team was even relegated to the CK league, the Korean secondary division, in 2020.

In the following year, he joined Fredit BRION’s as their new mid-lane but the results still didn’t come around as he finished at the bottom of the standings in both splits.

The turning point for him came in 2022 when he joined DFM in the LJL, winning both splits and taking part at MSI and Worlds. In the play-in stage, DFM was able to take one game off of RNG but still wasn’t able to qualify for the main stage. After that performance, however, Yaharong hasn’t found any team in both 2023 and 2024.
